The Los Angeles Institute of Architecture & Design (LAIAD) is a unique alternative to traditional architectural education. Founded in 2001, LAIAD offers academic programs tailored to the needs of its students. With small class sizes and personally designed studio programs, LAIAD provides individual attention and allows students to focus on their own design process. The architecture transfer programs prepare students for advanced placement into bachelor's programs, while the graduate preparation program helps students with a bachelor's degree in another discipline pursue a master's degree in architecture. LAIAD also offers a summer program for international students to improve their design and portfolio skills. Additionally, LAIAD provides practical experiences through internships with top architects and designers in Los Angeles. The school's flexible curriculum allows students to explore different areas of design and architecture before entering a university program. LAIAD classes are taught in the evenings from 6 pm to 10 pm to accommodate students' employment or general education classes during the day.
