United Friends of the Children is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles that has been empowering foster youth since 1979. Their mission is to provide support and resources to foster children and help them transition to successful adulthood. With the largest concentration of foster youth in the country, United Friends of the Children faces the challenges of homelessness, incarceration, poor educational attainment, and lack of employment opportunities. However, through their housing and education programs, they have made a significant impact on the lives of foster youth. They provide housing, tutoring, counseling, therapy, and other critical support services to help foster youth overcome the effects of the pandemic. United Friends of the Children has achieved high rates of high school and college graduation among their scholars program participants, as well as stable housing and employment for their Pathways alumni. They offer various ways to get involved, including volunteering and donating, to make a difference in the lives of foster youth.
