Mexican Radio began its life 18 years ago as a ”jaunty candlelit shoebox” on Mulberry Street in Little Italy, NYC.
The next four years were a proven testament to Mexican Radio’s award-winning margaritas and delicious home-style cooking as Mexican Radio repeatedly took top honors as Best Mexican Restaurant in NYC. Two-and-a-half-hour waiting-list lines continually streamed around the block as loyal customers cried, ”Time for expansion … please!”
In June 2000, Mexican Radio moved around the corner to its current home at 19 Cleveland Place — happy to stay in the neighborhood which had so fervently embraced the business—and increasing seating capacity from a jam-packed 20 to over 100 people.
The front section of the Cleveland Place location is a tribute to the tiny Mulberry Street storefront where it all began. Upon opening the doors of their new location, a glowing review appeared in The New York Post saying ”If there could be a shrine to Mexican food, Mexican Radio would be it!”
