Cornerstone Tire Rolls Into Edinburg
It’s been just a few months since the doors opened at Cornerstone Tire in Edinburg and owner Albert Villarreal is still celebrating. Villarreal, 42, held an elaborate grand opening celebration on Sept. 14 with the help of the Edinburg, McAllen, and Pharr Chambers of Commerce. During the grand opening weekend, Villarreal offered over-the-top deals like $10 oil changes, and tires prices at cost plus $5.
Cornerstone Tire is located at 5107 S. Jackson Rd., south of the intersection of Trenton and Jackson, where a lot of development is taking place. The 8,019 square-foot facility offers an array of services, such as tires, wheels, state inspections, tune-ups, diagnostics, alignment, suspension, and air conditioning repair. “We are a complete facility,” Villarrreal said. “Cornerstone Tire is a one-stop shop when it comes to your automobile needs.”
After spending over 23 years in the tire industry working for Bridgestone in North Texas, Villarreal said it was time to go off on his own. Villarreal, who was born in McAllen and attended school in Harlingen, was previously in charge of 25 Bridgestone stores in Texas and six of them were in the Rio Grande Valley. “When I made the decision to open my own store, I knew I wanted to be in this area because I love the people here and the community is great,” he said. “There is no place like the Valley, and I think that is why people who leave the Valley, return to the Valley.”
Villarreal pays close attention to the growing business community in the Valley and offers fleet services. “We offer fleet accounting pricing, fleet care, and national account deals,” he said. Believing in the company that he worked for for several years, Villarreal has continued a relationship with Bridgestone as Cornerstone Tire is a Bridgestone-Firestone affiliate dealership. Other tire brands offered at Cornerstone Tire are Fuzion, Dayton and Michelin. “We also offer our own Cornerstone credit card that offers 90 days no interest,” he added.
