Pharmacy compounding is the art and science of preparing customized medications for patients. Modern technology, innovative techniques, and research have allowed more pharmacists to customize medications to meet specific patient needs.

Village Compounding Pharmacy is a local leader in customized solutions for patients. For more than 32 years, Village Compounding Pharmacy has been dedicated to enhancing patient care by providing custom medications tailored to patients’ specific needs. Village Compounding Pharmacy doesn’t just fill your prescriptions; it is your partner in achieving your health goals. Its staff of highly-trained pharmacists and technicians and state-of-the-art equipment ensure patients receive the highest level of quality, safety and personal attention including expert consultations and continued patient education.

Today, an estimated 1 percent of all prescriptions are compounded daily by pharmacists working closely with physicians and patients. Compounding is inherent on pharmacy practice. No other health care professional has studied chemical compatibilities and can prepare dosage forms. Even when modern scientific technologies have produced new chemical entities, the ability of the pharmacist to combine one or more chemicals into a new preparation or process the existing dosage form into one that is better suited to the patient's needs, has remained the domain of the pharmacist.

There are several reasons why pharmacists compound prescription medications. The most important one is what the medical community calls “patient non-compliance.” Many patients are allergic to preservatives or dyes, or are sensitive to standard drug strengths. With a physician’s consent, a compounding pharmacist can change the strength of a medication, alter its form to make it easier for the patient to ingest, or add flavor to it to make it more palatable.

Compounded prescriptions are ideal for any patient requiring unique dosages and/or delivery devices. Compounding applications can include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, natural hormone replacement therapy and ophthalmology compounding services.
